CASA AL PRUNO Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC
All three varieties are grown principally in Veneto and Lombardy, made famous for their starring roles in the wines of Valpolicella and Amarone. Typically showing notes of violet, red cherry, blackberry and dried herbs, Corvina’s fine but somewhat sparse tannins are compensated by Corvinone’s meaty, structural body. Rondinella provides a brilliant herbaceous note.
About: A family-run enterprise since 1920, Cantinei Minini have been developing relationships and cooperative projects with growers from many of Italy’s wine-producing regions for over 100 years.
The Ripasso method reuses grapes from spent Amarone fermentations to lend weight and texture to the wine.
Tasting note: A nose of ripe, red cherries, blackberry and herbs with hints of raisin and smoke. Full bodied but with a balancing freshness and notes of violet and hazelnut on the finish.
