Franchi Treviso Red Chicory is a striking Italian heirloom leaf chicory variety admired for its deep burgundy leaves, crisp white ribs and refined bittersweet flavour. Known in Italy as “Cicoria Rossa di Treviso 3,” this elegant radicchio-type vegetable is a staple of northern Italian cuisine, prized for both its visual appeal and culinary versatility.

Carefully selected by Franchi Sementi, Italy’s historic seed company founded in 1783, this traditional variety produces elongated heads with beautifully contrasting ruby-red foliage and tender, crunchy texture. Its pleasantly balanced bitterness becomes milder and sweeter as the leaves mature, making it ideal for fresh salads, risottos, grilled dishes and roasted vegetable recipes.
